Dr. Pou’s “Legal Limbo”
A statement from Dr. Pou’s legal counsel regarding the status of allegations against Dr. Pou:
Dr. Anna Pou is completely innocent of all allegations made by the state Attorney General. There is nothing in her character, background or morality that would support any of the outrageous charges made by the state of Louisiana.
I have advised my client not to respond to the specifics of the state’s affidavit for two reasons. First, there is absolutely no legitimacy to this investigation. It is a white-wash of the colossal failure of government at all levels - city, state, and federal, to protect and evacuate the neediest of the needy in their time of greatest urgency. The Attorney General’s client in this case is the State of Louisiana and he can’t objectively investigate the State’s abandonment of these doctors, nurses and patients. Therefore, this investigation has no credibility.
The second reason we will not directly address these allegations is that Dr. Pou is in “legal limbo” in that she has been arrested but not formally charged. We are not entitled to the background information on the affidavit which was used for the arrest nor have we been provided any evidence which supposedly supports the allegations such as laboratory results, autopsy reports or medical records.
We look forward to responding to the particular allegations when the details are provided to us. For the present time we can only point to the character of Dr. Pou as totally inconsistent with someone who would commit murder, and to her nearly unanimous support among patients, colleagues and peers.
